Iteru
Iteru I was a performance installation that took place at Erie Basin Park, Brooklyn. This site is a sliver of park sandwiched between looming Ikea and Amazon warehouses. Three pulp and canvas figurative sculptures and improvised movement highlighted feelings of tension, vulnerability, and yearning there. The performers’ movements and intimate scale of the sculptures, in connection with the elements around them, offered a palpable contrast to the alienating corporate design surrounding the park. Closer shots of one sculpture from Iteru. The sculptures are intended to be shown temporarily outdoors, or indoors where they can interact with natural light to enhance their rich textures. One side (right image) is canvas stained with acrylic and natural pigments like rose powder and henna. The other side (left image) is deep brown paper pulp mixed with dried plant bits and coffee grinds.
